About Us

The Beehive is owned by Jo & Steve Prior. Since moving to The Beehive in March 2018 we have worked hard to refurbish the B&B to create a welcoming, comfortable and friendly place to stay. This is our first venture into B&Bs and we are delighted with the feedback we have received from our guests who have enjoyed staying with us. You don’t have to take our word for it, have a look for yourselves by reading some of our many reviews below.

We love the history attached to our property. The Beehive was built in 1909 for Francis Alfred Bolton, of the Bolton family who owned the large copper and iron works in the village until its closure in the 1960s. The building started out life as a haberdashery shop and then in the 1980s it was turned in to a guest house.

As part of our refurbishment we have uncovered and retained many original features alongside creating a more fresh and modern feel. The semi circular frontage to the property results in a unique building in a delightful location overlooking the River Churnet.
